Network…Brainstorm…Inspire…Develop…Energize…at the Spring ConferenceSaturday, April 10, 2010 noon to 3:00 – Garden Cafe Democrats Working Together: Unstoppable!” is the theme of the Club’s annual Spring Conference. It comes from Howard Dean’s call to keep momentum building. The Spring Conference is a venue for Democratic candidates and politicians to address voters and constituents. There are several exciting county races that local Democrats are in on June 8th:3rd and 5th District SupervisorsDistrict Attorney Superior Court JudgeCounty Education SuperintendentState Assembly (Wes Chesbro’s seat)State Senate (Senator Wiggin’s seat) US Congress (Mike Thompson’s seat) Both Wesley Chesbro and Mike Thompson are running again, but Sen. Wiggins is stepping down after many years of dedicated public service; so that race should be lively. We should hear from all Democratic local candidates, so this is your chance to interface with our future leaders. Momentum was on our side in the 2008 election. Democrats in Mendocino County are truly unstoppable as can be evidenced by (y)our hard work (and others) defeating Measure A last November by a 2/3rds majority. We also turned our Board of Supervisors from a 3:2 (Rep. - 2, Ind. - 1 and Dems - 2) to a 4:1 (Dems - 4 and Ind. - 1) majority. It is important that we elect Democratic candidates in Northern California. So save the date now. This event will be popular, so tickets may sell out. Remember, when we work together we're unstoppable.Should you wish to sponsor the Spring Conference please send a check to the Ukiah Valley Democratic Club and mail to P.O. Box 294, Ukiah, CA 95482.The conference will be a luncheon at the Garden Café in Ukiah, Saturday, April 10 from noon to 3:00. Lunch will be $17.00 and the Club can subsidize members for which that amount would be a hardship. Get you tickets at the Mendocino Book Company, online by clicking on the Act Blue link or mail a check for $15 to PO Box 294, Ukiah, CA 95482. Please contact me if you have any questions. Sincerely,Wendy Pollitz, President, Ukiah Valley Democratic Club707-462-1399, pollitz©pacific.net

We had a great time at Ukiah's Inaugural Ball, Tuesday night, Jan. 20, 2009"Yes we can, Yes we did, Yes we shall."The Ukiah Daily Journal has a photo gallery from the event up already -- check it out here. Thanks to everybody who bought tickets and who volunteered, including Sheri Hanson and the rest of the decorators who made Carl Purdy Hall look so elegant. No official count yet, but last I heard, the number of attendees was 350+ and climbing. Thanks to Paula Samonte and her Band, who got people up and dancing with their first song and all night long. And thanks to the caterers, Kilkenny Kitchen Catering -- the food was delicious, I'd love to have the recipe for those gratin potatoes. Getting a picture taken by the delightful gals from Fantasy Stills was great fun; we'll post a direct link when those photos go up at http://www.fantasystills.comBut most thanks go to Ginger Pohlson, who organized this extraordinary event for Mendocino County Democrats and Obama supporters to celebrate this extraordinary occasion.-- jp

from Debora McGillivray, Inland Mendo Obama ’08 Campaign, Volunteer Coordinator:What an exciting week this has been! The Democratic Convention was amazing from start to finish….starting with Michelle’s speech and ending with Barack’s speech and everything in between. I think we have an incredible team with “Barack and Joe”, so now it’s time to really start working to get them elected. I also want to give Wendy Pollitz (President of the UVDC) & company a big congratulations for making the Labor Day Democratic Block Party a great success. It was informative and a lot of fun…special thanks to the “Sugar Shack” auction!
